What is Neurodiversity?
According to the National Institute on Health, “Neurodiversity describes the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many ways, with no one “right” way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not deficits. Neurodiversity refers to the diversity of all people, but it is often used in the context of autism spectrum disorder and other neurological or developmental disorders such as ADHD or dyslexia.”
People who are neurodivergent often have a unique way of experience the world. They may have sensory, cognitive, attention, communication, and processing differences. For some these differences enhance their lives, for others these differences cause struggles for the individual, but for most it is a combination of strengths and weaknesses.
